Teaching Contrived Experiences

1.                      A graphic organizer of the various forms of contrived experiences.
A Venn diagram about Models and Mock Ups

3.  Five reasons why we make use of models, mock ups, specimens and objects:

          1. Overcome limitations of space and time.  With the use of the teaching aids mentioned above, learners can understand and have a thorough knowledge of the subjects being taught in only a short span of time.  We no longer will imagine about the real thing if we have the exact model in front of us, thus this will save our time in teaching.

          2.  To “edit”reality for us to be able to focus on parts or a process of a system that we intend to study.  For example, if we our teaching science subject and our topic is about bacteria, we can bring into class a specimen so we can see and study under microscope what is it like.

          3.  To overcome difficulties of size.  Having a model of the materials that we are going to study, we can know the exact components of that thing we cant possibly bring to class because of its size.  For example, we are tackling about planets, we can use a mock up (a planetarium to be exact)

          4.  To understand the inaccessibility.  Again, a mock up of planetarium can be of great used studying about solar system for it is impossible for us to travel in the universe just to study the solar system.

          5.  Help the learners understand abstractions.  With the presence of the teaching aids we use in class, we no longer will imagine what a thing is like if we have an exact representation of the thing we are going to study.
